The FN AR-15 Cold Hammer Forged (CHF) barrel is built for hard use, using the same proprietary Chrome Moly Vanadium steel associated with FN machine gun barrel production. Each barrel is magnetic particle tested for consistency and quality, then finished with a corrosion-resistant matte black manganese phosphate. A chrome-lined bore and chamber help resist corrosion and heat erosion for long barrel life and reliable chambering and extraction, while the M4-style feed ramps and barrel extension promote consistent feeding.
